Monkey Bone.

Brenden Fraser stars as Stu Miley the creator of the mischievous Monkey Bone Character. A Car accident leaves him in a coma and he is trapped in a nightmare world - "Downtown" where he meets every nightmare he has ever had including Monkey Bone.

Monkey Bone meanwhile takes over Stu's body in the real world and wreaks havoc wherever he goes. The dreamworld need lots of new nightmares so they do not want Stu to escape from the dreamworld and get back his body from Monkey Bone. The race is on because the plug on Stu's life support is about to be pulled - he must get back before this happens.
 It's a very funny movie although smaller children could easily be scared by some of the Comical "Nightmare" Characters. There is a romance story and I would say this film is a modern, and vastly improved who framed roger rabbit - without the cartoons drawn - they are all Muppet like and fairly well done but all on a fairly grown up storyline.
